the Light Divided

Sunshine has finally pushed its way through my studio windows. It seems like a good day to reflect on the newest design in the Walking Trail Collection, the Light Divided. Last year, a family member came home from New Hampshire with a gnarly stick wrapped in moss. She thought it was quite interesting and hoped I could use it as inspiration for a new piece. It sat for over a year, drying out, but maintaining its shape. For a while, it seemed quite ordinary...but upon closer look, it was rich in form, asymmetry and delicacy. Perhaps this piece is indicative of the time...somewhere between winter and summer, the short and long days. It is the spaces in between that can be most interesting...
