It is a cold November evening and I am cleaning up my shop after two months of design time. Little sparkly gems, pieces of chain, and bits of solder and charcoal litter my work tables. My fingernails are dirty...my hands, tired. Gatherings of plants, shells, buds, and leaves are preserved...ready to be photographed with their new metal interpretations. I am excited by these pieces-tiny studs made from chrysanthemums, an angular diamond accented pendant, and floral ear threaders that will gently sweep over the shoulders. These designs, and others, will add freshness and depth to my collections. However, right now, I need some time to let it all go...to breathe deeply and sweep up the remnants of my creative process.
