My grandmother, Gemma, was my second mother. I would visit her a few times each week and be treated to homemade pasta, laughs and life lessons. She taught me practical skills such as sewing, cooking and baking. More importantly, she emulated kindness, generosity and fortitude, serving as an admirable role model for most of my life. This Mother's Day, I remember her and all of the loving women who have shared their love. Gemma's Garden was created in her honor, reflecting all of the ways she cultivated kindness in our family.
