I am so honored to announce that I am serving as a co-chairperson of the 2019 Museum Store Sunday Committee, responsible for the planning and implementation of the global event, Museum Store Sunday. On Sunday, December 1, 2019, over 1,100 institutions, representing all fifty states, fifteen countries, and four continents will offer a special shopping experience in one-of-a kind stores, showcasing broad assortments of highly curated, unique, mission-specific gifts. From books to jewelry to children’s products to home accessories and gourmet food, patrons can shop to support the missions and programs of each participating museum and cultural institution.
This year, the committee is led by both institutional and vendor members, truly embodying the cooperative spirit of the Museum Store Association. Under the leadership of Stuart Hata of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Laura Murphy of The Preservation Society of Newport County, and myself, the Museum Store Sunday Committee is working diligently to present a spectacular event in 2019.
Whether you are a patron of museum stores or a non-profit retail manager, I encourage you to learn more about Museum Store Sunday at www.museumstoresunday.org. And, of course, save the date of 12.1.19 to visit your favorite local museum store. I am certain you will find unique beautiful gifts for yourself or your loved ones!
